Carole Beswick

Carole received her bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from the University of Southern California. She was a teacher in the Glendale and San Bernardino Unified School Districts for eight years. Carole was elected as the City of Redlands’ first woman mayor in 1983. She served on the city council for eight years. During her term she was instrumental in revitalizing historic downtown Redlands, which today serves as an example of successful historic preservation and planning.

A community advocate and civic leader, she was the first woman President of Redlands Country Club, as well as the Rotary Club of Redlands. She was a founder of the Redlands Bicycle Classic, the longest, continuously running bicycle stage race in the U.S. From 1989 to 2003, Beswick was an owner of Paper Partners Inc., a stationery business in Redlands. Currently, she serves as Chief Executive Officer of Inland Action, an economic development advocacy group which travels to Washington, D.C., and Sacramento, California to meet with elected officials and various agency staff.
